We measure how congestion forms and dissolves inside the physical store. We isolate the structural and temporal drivers of aisle crowding, identify where interventions matter most, and provide operational control to keep traffic flowing without eroding sales.

Physical stores generate highly uneven traffic patterns throughout the day, but most congestion remains invisible until it disrupts service, safety, or sales. BIEM turns aisle crowding into a measurable signal, showing where bottlenecks arise, how long they persist, and which categories are affected. Using privacy-preserving edge analytics, BIEM links patterns of congestion to concrete locations, fixtures, promotional setups, and staffing levels. Retailers gain a defensible basis for redesigning layouts, adjusting planograms, and orchestrating tasks so that critical aisles remain accessible when demand peaks.
